This specialized Fretz HMR-6 Planishing Hammer is equipped with one plastic end that is installed with a hex wrench (provided). The flat plastic end forms metal while leaving it smooth. The metal end of the hammer head is slightly domed to make it easier to strike flat and slightly domed metal surfaces.

Hammer Basics

Fretz Mid-Size Hammers scaled-down versions of traditional silversmithing hammers, available in many of the same styles. Average head length is 75 mm. The classic shapes are great for planishing, embossing, raising, and more. They feature 420 stainless steel heads hardened to 50Rc and polished to a mirror-bright finish. The 220 mm (8.66”) long rosewood handles are shaped to provide perfect balance and control.
