Cast in 420 stainless steel, hardened to 50Rc and polished to a mirror-bright finish. The handle is meticulously fashioned from African Padauk, a type of rosewood, shaped to provide perfect balance and control. Named for the two-faced god of Roman mythology, the Janus hammer has 2 identical faces, one of which is parallel to the handle and the other positioned at a slight angle. Unlike all other Fretz hammers, the handle of this hammer is straight and has a pear-shaped grip. Both highly polished faces are 28 mm in diameter.
